1. Health and Stability

I confirm that I have no disabilities, illnesses, or emotional pressures that could interfere with my performance on the CELTA course and that I am able to cope with stress. I also confirm that I am living in a stable and comfortable environment, and that travelling to and from Britishey Training Centre (for face-to-face courses) or accessing sessions online will not interfere with my ability to fully focus on the course.

2. Workload and Commitment

I understand that the CELTA course is intensive and demanding. I will be expected to devote substantial time and energy to lesson preparation, written assignments, and independent study outside course hours, including evenings and weekends.

3. Attendance

I understand that 100% attendance is a course requirement and that I must not undertake other employment or studies during the course period. This applies equally to both online and face-to-face delivery.

4. Nature of the Course

I understand that CELTA is not an English language course. It is a teacher training programme. I will need to research and analyse language for teaching and complete written assignments. I also understand that it is common for candidates to be asked to resubmit parts of written assignments if they do not initially meet the pass standard.

5. Teamwork and Professional Conduct

While I am expected to work independently, I am also required to collaborate supportively with peers and maintain a professional, positive attitude in all interactions during the course.

6. Academic Integrity and Plagiarism

I recognise that a high standard of preparation and presentation is expected in my work. I understand that all work submitted must be my own, and that any form of plagiarism, copying, or academic dishonesty will be treated as malpractice and may result in immediate withdrawal from the course and disqualification by Cambridge English.

7. Use of Generative AI in Assessed Work

Britishey Training Centre and Cambridge English recognise that generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, etc.) may assist candidates when used appropriately for idea generation or research. However, AI use must be transparent, referenced, and limited to permitted purposes.

Acceptable AI Use
Candidates may use generative AI tools for the following purposes only:

  • To generate ideas for teaching and learning materials.
  • To carry out initial research into a topic when preparing for an assignment.
  • To generate bibliographies or lists of references for further reading.

Referencing AI Use

  • Any use of AI must be acknowledged and referenced according to accepted academic conventions.
  • The APA referencing style is recommended, though other recognised formats are acceptable if used consistently.
  • Candidates must include:
    • In-text citation stating the AI tool, date, and prompt used.
    • Reference list entry following the convention below:

Example (APA style):
When given the prompt “explain 'used to' to a learner of English”, ChatGPT generated the explanation: “The phrase ‘used to’ refers to past habits or states that are no longer true” (OpenAI, 2024).

Reference List Example:

Unacceptable AI Use / Malpractice

  • Any unreferenced or hidden use of AI (for example, submitting AI-generated text or lesson materials as one’s own) will be treated as academic malpractice.
  • Malpractice may lead to immediate expulsion from the course and reporting to Cambridge English, which could result in disqualification.
  • Cambridge English’s policy on AI use is subject to continuous review, and candidates must always adhere to the most up-to-date version as informed by Britishey Training Centre.

8. Feedback and Reflection

I accept that I will receive constructive feedback from my tutors and peers and will be expected to participate in group feedback sessions. I understand that I must respond to feedback in a professional and reflective manner.

9. Digital Competence

I confirm that I have sufficient digital skills to manage my CELTA e-portfolio and all course materials using Google Classroom or any alternative platform specified by Britishey Training Centre.

10. Assessment and Monitoring

I understand that my performance will be continuously assessed throughout the course. I will be kept informed of my progress and of any areas of concern. I understand that final results are based on:

  • Teaching Practice (TP)
  • Written Assignments
  • Professional Conduct and Development

11. Cambridge English Grades

I understand that CELTA grades are: Pass, Pass B, Pass A, and Fail. I accept that it is possible to fail the course and that most candidates worldwide achieve a Pass, which is a significant professional achievement. I acknowledge that prior teaching experience does not guarantee a higher grade.

12. Health and Safety

I am responsible for my own health and well-being. In the event of illness or infection (including viral infections), Britishey Training Centre will not be held liable for any resulting absence, delay, or course interruption.

13. Payment, Withdrawal, and Refund Policy

I understand that course fees must be paid in full before the course start date.
I understand that once enrolled, course fees are non-refundable, even if I withdraw for personal, professional, or health reasons.

14. Course Moderation and Certification

I understand that CELTA courses are externally moderated by Cambridge Assessment English, and that all results are provisional until validated by the Cambridge Moderator. Certificates are issued only after official confirmation of results and moderation approval.

15. Deferral Policy

A deferral may be considered if a candidate has completed part of the course but cannot finish due to exceptional circumstances.
In such cases, Britishey Training Centre must consult Cambridge Assessment English before approving the deferral.

Conditions and Eligibility

  • Deferrals are permitted only in exceptional circumstances (e.g., serious illness, family emergency).
  • The new course should normally be in the same mode of delivery as the original course (online or face-to-face), unless otherwise agreed in writing by the candidate and Britishey Training Centre.
  • If the delivery mode changes, the candidate will be offered familiarisation activities to ensure continuity.
  • Britishey Training Centre will consider the candidate’s overall performance, professionalism, and engagement before recommending a deferral to Cambridge English.
  • Candidates must understand that deferral approval is not automatic and depends on Cambridge English confirmation.

Candidate Understanding
By starting the application and the pre-interview task process, I confirm that I fully understand the implications of deferral and acknowledge that approval is subject to Cambridge English confirmation and Britishey Training Centre’s discretion.

Candidate Declaration

I have read and understood all the information above, including the guidance on the acceptable use of generative AI tools, and I agree to comply with all Britishey Training Centre and Cambridge Assessment English policies.

Applies to both online and face-to-face CELTA courses delivered by Britishey Training Centre (Cambridge English Authorised Centre EG069).
